Focus on the type of meal you want. Do you want your guests to be seated and have table service? Do you prefer the idea of canapés and more relaxed atmosphere or do you prefer a buffet style, where guests can help themselves to the food that they prefer?

 There is no right or wrong, this is down to personal preference and what you want to include in your wedding catering menu on your magical day. As with any wedding catering you need to have a set budget in mind.

     As a bride, it is one thing to be 'traditionally late' in your arrival at your wedding venue where the groom is waiting but another altogether to find that you're so behind that the guests have started a football or cricket match to keep themselves entertained in the meantime.

    It couldn't happen to you? Well, you might be surprised at just how many brides are seriously late for the wedding service and in some cases, so much so that they put the wedding itself in jeopardy due to the loss of the venue etc. 

In almost all such situations, the problems caused by a tardy arrival are due to a late departure from their home or their base for the day, before the service itself. So, here are a few tips as to how you can avoid catastrophe on your big day. 
1. Plan your itinerary for your pre-departure activities so that you are fully ready to go considerably in advance of the 'last point' at which you can leave and still have a chance of making your venue on time. 

2. Many brides in a traditional gown prefer to get dressed at the very last moment in order to reduce the risks of creasing and marking etc. Understandable as that is, don't give in to that temptation. As per the first point above, make sure you are fully dressed and virtually ready to go well in advance. That will mean that any issues are discovered early and that will give you the chance to deal with them without putting your departure time at risk. 

3. If you are using luxury car hire services for your transport, discuss with them well in advance your timetable for the day. Let them tell you what time you need to leave your departure point by in order to make your arrival at the service comfortable. 

4. Plan your journey so that you actually arrive at the wedding venue or very close to it, considerably in advance of your planned entry time. Do your waiting in order to meet those 'traditionally late' requirements once you are in the vicinity and around the corner in your luxury limousine rather than at your departure point. 

5. Keep one eye on the progress towards getting ready of those you are travelling with. Custom is changing here and today sometimes brides will ride not just with their father (or other male 'giver away') but rather both parents and sometimes bridesmaids too. 
There won't be a lot of point making sure you are ready well in advance if people that will be travelling with you aren't! 6. Have a final check list pinned to the front door you will depart from en route to the ceremony. Prepare that in advance, at the latest the night before and make sure it contains everything you and anyone travelling with you will need for the service and reception.

 A quick glance at it before leaving should avoid grinding your teeth and requesting that your chauffeur turns around desperately quickly and goes back when you discover you have forgotten something on the way! Mastering Your Depression

Depression can seem like a death sentence. 

You fear you may be going mad and be reminded of a crazy relative (we all have one!). One client's fear was exactly that - she would end up like her mad aunt who caused chaos and upset. She had never married and my client's view as this was how she was going to end up - mentally unstable and single. 

Of course, the fear was driving the stress and when all we can think about is what we don't want, it can be a self fulfilling prophesy as this is the course you have set your mind on. Treatment consisted of challenging the "evidence" about her depression, about her aunt. My client could see understand that her aunt did have a psychiatric illness, it was not depression. 
My client was very different to her aunt as her aunt had been in and out of psychiatric institutions from a young age. My client was having a bad time having come out of a long relationship. With my skills as a hypnotherapist and NLP practitioner I was able to help this client sort out what was going on inside her head at a subconscious level. Another common fear amongst clients is the issue of taking medication. 

The fears consist of dependence on the medication, not wanting to take anything to delay a pregnancy or the fear of not being in control. My view is to see the medication as a crutch - it is there to support you while you sort out what is going on inside. In time, you can become free of your medication depending on the level of depression. But it does not change you or weakened you. However, if you are adamant about not using medication then seek hypnotherapy as a first choice of treatment. 

Many times I am told by clients that I am their last call, if what I can do doesn't work for them, then it is hopeless. Talking does not make depression go away; medications do not make depression go away and ignoring symptoms does not make depression go away. The only way is to control your symptoms of depression. You have to accept it is now part of you but does not need to define you. Once you can master your symptoms of depression, you are in control. When you stop fighting the fear of being "crazy", you are gaining control that you have, indeed, a special gift - you are very connected to your sense of self.

 You become a great observer of yourself - you can allow your depression to signal when you need to take of yourself so your highs are never quite so high and lows not so low. The unease is inside you, whether it is dealing with unwanted thoughts or not feeling anything, so it is important to re-establish a communication within yourself and focus on how you want to be. There is still a stigma attached to emotional upset and it can be you may find yourself using words like "stressed" and "fed up" in lieu of the word depression.

 Depression in itself will affect people differently. Not all depressed people will have suicidal thoughts. When despair and hopelessness enter the mix, this is where danger lies in those suffering from depression because one day the pros and cons list that you create may indicate that today is the day you leave this earth.

 Self harm is just a way to let of the pressure build up. Seek help. There is always hope but sometimes it can be very well hidden. Hypnotherapy and NLP are modalities to help you move forward. They can take you from where you are now to where you want to be. You are dealing with the inner parts of your mind, where our sense of self lives. Depression sufferers tend to have been very sensitive as children, creative and in tune with the feelings of others. It is a strength but becomes a weakness if this is your view.

When Healing Traumatized Person

For the first time in my life I saw the truth as it is set into song by so many poets, proclaimed as the final wisdom by so many thinkers. 

The truth - that Love is the ultimate and highest goal to which man can aspire. Then I grasped the meaning of the greatest secret that human poetry and human thought and belief have to impart: The salvation of man is through love and in love." ? Viktor E. Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning One of the key ideas-that is integral to the philosophy of naturopathic medicine-is the importance of treating the causes of disease and not just the symptoms.

 In the case of treating mental-health conditions like PTSD, depression, anxiety and addiction, we are forced as practitioners and patients to address trauma as a primary cause. 

Trauma is at the heart of much of what I treat. And in the case of someone in recovery from drug and or alcohol addiction, trauma is often one of the leading contributing factors in the progression of the disease. 

Consequently, in order for drug addiction recovery to be successful, we must first lay bare and acknowledge that it is always accompanied by profound pain of some sort or another. There are two physicians whose works inspired me when I began learning about addiction studies and recovery. The first was Dr. Victor Frankl, who authored Man's Search for Meaning, and the second is Carl Gustav Jung, a contemporary of Sigmund Freud and an early contributor to many of the ideas that later came to influence Alcoholic Anonymous. 
I first learned about Victor Frankl when I was just 21 years old. I had been living in Europe at the time, and my Rabbi's wife had loaned me a copy of Man's Search for Meaning, Frankl's most famous work. I never forgot the book and I have read it several times and referenced it many times. Frankl, a holocaust survivor, wrote extensively on his theory that the primary drive in human beings was the drive to meaning. He believed that a human being could survive even the most heinous suffering if he felt his life had meaning and purpose.

 Frankl felt that the greatest meaning of all lie in our ability to be people capable of giving and receiving love, and credited the love he held for his wife Tilly, with helping him survive his time while an inmate at Aushwitz concentration camp. I wholeheartedly agree with Frankl's theory, and have found that those patients who come to see me-that have found some measure of meaning in their lives-are usually the most successful at maintaining sobriety.

 I have also found that when that meaning is lost, even briefly, their is a real risk of relapse, depression, and even suicide. In those instances, part of my approach is to gently help the person seeking treatment turn their attention back to what their core values are; so that they can begin to live a life driven by purpose and meaning.

 My introduction to Carl Jung (often referred to as C.G Jung) came much later. I had heard about how Jung's philosophies had influenced the early formation of Alcoholic Anonymous while a student in medical school. His general theory of alcoholism has remained very intriguing to me. Jung believed that alcoholism was a spiritual crises. And that sobriety could only be maintained in the presence of a type of spiritual awakening. Jung was not specific in how this spiritual transformation might take place. Rather, he believed there were many ways in which a person might become spiritually "awakened."

 And even proposed that the act of becoming educated might be a type of spiritual path. He also spoke about awakening as a process that might happen within the context of a deep friendship or other meaningful relationship. He did not propose how this process should happen, only that it was a necessary component of sobriety.
 Because much of the underlining cause of drug and alcohol abuse is due to trauma, our nations "war on drugs" has been a further assault on people that have already been deeply wounded. What I believe is that trauma can only be successfully treated when it is acknowledged and the primary drives and inherent "spiritual" natures of human beings are addressed and encouraged. 

You cannot put a band aid on an addicted person and call them "recovered". Granted, there are some medications that can help (because there are real things happening inside the brain of an addicted person that need to be addressed) and pharmaceutical, and or nutraceutical medications, can offer a great deal of relief. 

And I certainly prescribe those to people who come to me seeking relief from addiction. However, that is by no means the end of treatment. And I do not believe that-in the absence of the spiritual and or psychological components nherent in addiction-long-term recovery is likely.
